Highlights from 24 Hour Comics 2013! These are all from the comic I drew at The Forest Cafe, Edinburgh in 24 hours. It’s called Danny’s Inferno and is very loosely based on the first volume of The Divine Comedy. Instead of Virgil, I have Dumbledore, because I thought he would make an awesome guide through hell.
Found this GIF made of me by FOTO NOW, the photography collective who took part in 24 Hour Comic Etc’s 24 hour comic challenge with me in Cornwall in 2011.
Partly looked it up because having a GIF made of oneself is the highest honour in the land (even if I just happened to be in the right place at the right time) and partly because I wanted to avoid wearing the exact same outfit as 2 and 1/2 years ago. Don’t want to become a cartoon character myself.
I am now a resident of Edinburgh! And first thing to do anywhere you move is help organise an event with artists a 24 Hour Comics Day, which is planned for… 24 Hour Comics Day. 5pm Saturday 5th October to 5pm Sunday 6th October. Hosted by the Forest Cafe, Lauriston Place. And all over the world other mad comickers will be feverishly scribbling as it is an international day of effort (the Saturday being 24 Hour Comics Day, but it being 24 hours and time zones being different and start times varying the whole weekend should be classed Comicker Holy Time). Lock in for comickers from 11pm to 10am. I’m excited and just a little scared. When I did one of these last I was young and sprightly… and three and half years have passed. And now I’m… slightly grumpier for sure.
